The Sim

The Neutral Zone, separating the United Federation of Planets from the Romulan Star Empire, is perhaps the most important border in the Beta Quadrant. Established following the Earth-Romulan War, the Neutral Zone has been a buffer to keep the peace between the two galactic super powers for over two hundred years. It was further reinforced by the Treaty of Algeron in the early 24th century.

After the Hobus Event of 2387, resulting in the destruction of the Hearthworlds Romulus and Remus, the Federation's Task Force 93 was temporarily charged with providing aid for the Romulan people. This arrangement ended in September of the same year when the Treaty of Nelvana was signed by Ambassador Chadwick (representing the Federation) and Admiral P’alas (representing the Empire). In it, the Empire formally closed its borders to all other powers.

Here on the Imperiax, we aim to explore what it means to be Romulan and / or Reman. We delve into our character’s lives, hoping to capture the emotion and desperation felt by them following the loss of two of their core worlds. While the Empire is well on its way to recovering from the loss of Romulus and Remus, it still has a long way to go. The post-Hobus Romulan Star Empire is a frantic one. Colonies vie for independence. The Tal Shiar continue to meddle in the government’s affairs, hoping to one day take full control over it. Other empires such as the Cardassians and the Klingons test Romulan borders regularly ever hoping to find a weakness that can be exploited. It is up to the military, the Imperial Guard, to reign in the chaos within the Empire’s borders, and to thwart any advances made by its enemies.
