Mission: The Choices We Make
Location: Hall of the Elements - Krell Estates, Umbrios
Timeline: 14th d. of 1st m. of Air, y. 1940 AS

Mardek walked the path behind Varuh, the lord of house Krell, towards the Hall of the Elements of the Krell estate. The beautiful trimmed trees and neat flower beds radiated calm. They passed a small pond containing colorful fish while a statue poured water into a smaller tube made from brass. Once full, the tube tilted and emptied its contents into the pond while making a clear harmonic sound like hitting softly against a vial of fine crystal. The sun was shining but the season was about to change and storm and rain were to replace sun and mild winds soon. Varuh, walking before him was wearing a ceremonial robe of house Krell, indicating his stance as hru'hfirh. Mardek himself was wearing a plain green tunic without any adornments. He had bathed, shaved and been attended by a barber to prepare him for the coming ceremony that was going to be held in the diamond-shaped building in front of them.

Before the cast-iron doors of the hall, two honor guards in house livreƩ were posted and stood to attention to their lord. Varuh gave them a small nod and entered the hall through the main gate. Inside, a small group of Romulans was waiting. The middle one wore the robes of a hfeniriv ra'valaere. The others flanking him left and right were clad in robes corresponding to the 4 physical elements. Each one was carrying a different object.

"Jolan 'tru, khlinae'eri ra'valaere. I am glad you have heeded my invitation." Varuh addressed the middle Romulan.

"Jolan 'tru, Varuh i-r'Dhain tr'Krell, hru'hfirh s'Krell. The rhana of elements has been invoked. What do you request of this conclave?" the judge spoke with a voice bearing gravitas.

Varuh gestured Mardek to step forward. The young medic bowed before the group of officials.
Then Varuh spoke again.

"This is Mardek ir-Rateg. I wish this conclave to acknowledge ih'shikaen temstheirhn s'Krell for this free citizen."

The judge nodded. "Your request has been heared by the elements. Mardek ir-Rateg, do you want to refuse house Krell's claim?"

"No, deihu. Their request is just and not against my will." Mardek spoke.

With that said the 4 other robed persons representing the 4 elements moved into each corner of the hall, waiting. Mardek was gestured to wait in the center of the hall with the judge, standing at the junction of the 4 elements repesenting the void, the 5th element.

Varuh walked towards the shrine of earth. As earth was foundation of all, it was the first element to visit. The robed person was holding a small bowl made of marble. Varuh bowed and touched the polished stone on the shrine's altar.

"I declare, by the Earth, that Mardek ir'Rateg from now on belongs to house Krell and with this offering it shall be so." Then he placed a small halite crystal into the bowl. The robed figure nodded and spoke "Earth has acknowledged thy request."

Varuh moved on towards the shrine of water. He bowed towards the robed figure holding a cup made from silver. Then he stepped towards the altar and took a sip from the fountain. Then he spoke.
"I declare, by the Water, that Mardek ir'Rateg from now on belongs to house Krell and with this offering it shall be so." This time, he produced an aquamarine and let it slip into the cup. The robed figure nodded and spoke "Water has acknowledged thy request."

The next shrine to approach was the one of Air. Again he bowed to the robed figure carrying a fine, polished mirror.
Then Varuh bowed to the altar where a crucible was located and inhaled some of the incense.
"I declare, by the Air, that Mardek ir'Rateg from now on belongs to house Krell and with this offering it shall be so."
He produced a zircon and placed it onto the mirror.
Again, the robed figure nodded and spoke the ceremonial words "Air has acknowledged thy request."

The last shrine to visit would be the fiery one in the last corner. Again he bowed towards the robed figure holding a lit candle. He felt the warmth of the furnace burning on the altar.
"I declare, by the Fire, that Mardek ir'Rateg from now on belongs to house Krell and with this offering it shall be so." He handed the robed figure a fire opal.
For the last time, the robed figure nodded and spoke "Fire has acknowledged thy request."

The judge spoke. "Four offerings have been made and the request acknowledged. Clan Krell has accepted this free citizen into their numbers." he turned towards Mardek and spoke again. "Your old life has returned into the void and from the void you are reborn. You shall be known henceforth as Mardek ir'Rateg tr'Krell. All ties to your former family are of the past now."

Varuh stepped to Mardek and gestured to a retainer. He was carrying a teal piece of cloth, a robe and a belt. Varuh personally helped Mardek into the robe and belted him.
"Be welcomed, Mardek, faelirh s'Krell. Serve D'Era and this house and add to our mnhei'sahe" Then he gave him a sheathed Kaleh

"Thank you, hru'hfirh."

With that said, the conclave of elements silently receeded and left the hall. Tonite, however, celebrations were in order to welcome the newest clan member. Ale would flow and many delicacies would be served. It would be a long day for all and an even longer night.
